BTN - What is the Fuss?

Is it good for the development of good citizen and human capital?

I do not really know but the way it was implemented in such a hurry and the timing of nearing the election cast a big doubt of it effectiveness to achieve its proclaimed objective.

There was no proper or clear preparation in term of trainers, training curriculum, eligiblity, legal issues, infrastructure, support services and many more. Obviously, there were many incidents that reflected the unpreparedness of the authorities that were asigned to undertake the task. The were cases of death, sickness, social ill among others.

What were being tought in the duration of the program too now have been questioned by some quarters especially the state governments administered by the PR. Of course, this now has become a political issue that has been capitalised to the maximum by the oppostion party.

I for one look at the program as more like a vacation for the participant rather than a training. To my best knowledge, this kind training will focus on discipline as to ensure resilience of the future citizen. As such it should be conducted in a military way and by militray personnel as what have been conducted in some countries like Singapore or scandinivian countries.
